Re: Mending a dented AC vent
You replaced the collar completely? What exactly does the collar refer to?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Questions about using primer
Should I ALWAYS use primer when painting? Or is it only needed when you want to make drastic changes to the color of a room? And should tint ever be added to the primer? Or is it best to use white?

Removing exterior wood pressed panels
I have two panels that I think will ultimately need to be replaced due to water damage. They are in the middle of the home, exterior wall. What is the best way to remove these? Don't the panels use some sore of tongue and groove? If so, I wonder if i will have problems putting the new ones in place,...

Re: Mending a dented AC vent
Thank you for the link for the staple guns, but there are tons on this webpage. Is there a particular kind that you recommend that would staple through sheet metal?

Re: What kind of vent is this?
No, because the dryer exhaust goes out the bottom of the laundry room floor.

Re: Removing battens next to popcorn ceiling
Since you have done this, what is the best way to scrape off the popcorn? Get it damp first? Since my home was built in 1995, I assume that the popcorn doesn't have asbestos in it.

Re: What kind of vent is this?
It's about a foot or so off the floor and on the other side of the wall is a laundry room area. It's just weird that the vent doesn't go all the way through the wall.

Warped door frame?
Geesh, it seems like this home has no end to the amount of repairs that it will need. As you can see in the photo below, the door fits nice at the top and the bottom, but not in the middle, where there is a big gap. Thoughts on the best way to tackle this one?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Rotten fake wood door frame
Should I use some sort of patch compound to fill this rotten wood section of the door frame, then sand it? Or should I buy a new piece of wood and use a nail gun to put it all back together? You guys have done this kind of stuff way more than I have, so that is why I seek your advice. Thank you. rot...

Sloppy metal roof with itty-bitty rain gutter
I stated earlier that I thought I might have a rolled metal roof. Now that I have a photo can someone confirm if this is correct? I'm fairly certain this is not the original based on how sloppy the tar looks. In several places the tar filled the tiny little rain gutter. This forces water over the ed...

Mending a dented AC vent
I took off each of the vent covers and some of ducts have damage. What is the best way to nail/staple these back into place? Because the opening is so small and narrow, I'm guessing there is a better tool than a standard hammer?
Thanks!

What kind of vent is this?
This exterior vent does not have anything on the other side of the wall, so what is it for? I looked inside and think there may be some of the dreaded black mold.
Thanks!

Good place for a water main shut-off
Soon I will have a friend help me trench my water line with his backhoe. Where do most people put their shut-off valves? In the water heater compartment? I'm guessing that I will want it easily accessible so that it can be reached during an emergency. Right?
Thanks!
