Thermostat for alternative energy users

This thermostat controls your furnace's blower to help circulate the warmth created from your alternative heat system.

thermostat with fan control If you are using an alternative heating system such as a pellet stove, wood stove, solar air heater or some other system, one of your biggest challenges may be circulating the heat throughout the home. The simplest way to circulate is to use your furnace's blower. This thermostat will allow you to do just that.

inside the thermostat One of the features of this thermostat is the 'recirculating fan timer' which turn's on only your furnace's blower at timed intervals (40, 60 or 120 minutes). Most alternative heat users will set the recirculating fan timer to 40 minutes. In 40 minutes the furnace's blower will turn on and run for about 10 minutes, then shut off. Then start-up again in another 40 minutes. A great way to move heat from one area of the home to another.

Pellet stoves, wood stoves and solar air heaters create heat in one area of your home. Your furnace's blower can move that heat to other areas of the home. When your blower runs, it pulls room air into the return air ducts and blows it back throughout the home. In the past you may have done this by simply letting your furnace blower run all the time, or you turned your blower on and off manually. With this thermostat, you can now set your blower to a timer then forget about it!

inside the thermostat This thermostat will work with all heating and cooling systems including systems with heat pumps. The 'recirculating fan timer' also works when your thermostat is set to heat or cool. If your system doesn't run for a preset amount of time, then the blower will automatically run. In other words, you can leave your furnace on for back-up heat and still be able to use the timed blower function.

Other features of this 24V AC digital thermostat are:

  • large display with a bright blue backlight
  • battery powered with latching relay outputs
  • recirculating fan mode
