Re: Rapid Wall Skirting

Another quick question...when cuting the length of the panels, how far up inside the top trim should the panel come? I know it needs enough room to move. So, 1"... 2" ? I live in Iowa, so we do get frost heave.

Re: Rapid Wall Skirting

Thanks for the replies. I have found the best price for Rapid Wall through General Supply, a mobile home parts store. For my 16x 80 with deck, was quoted $ 1,736 plus $ 450 shipping. That price includes 2 access doors and 10 auto vents. I'm having trouble swallowing the cost of shipping. I have pric...

Rapid Wall Skirting

I need to replace my old vynl skirting and am looking at the Rapid wall 2" insulated panels. Has anyone had any experince with this? And do you reccommend it? I live in Iowa...so winters can be both windy and cold. It's rather expensive, so do think I would notice the differance with Rapid Wall...

RE: Heat Tape

Guess my luck ran out on this tape. Sounds like I got my monies worth though. How far down in the pit should a tape go? I haven't pulled the insulation out but the existing tape goes down at least a foot to the insulation. Also, I read you shouldn't wrap a plastic line with the tape , but run it len...

Heat Tape

Ok....I always come here first before I call anyone else! -3 here today and woke up with frozen water line. No water at any faucet. We have been here for 16 years and never a problem. Put a hair dryer down in the pit where the water line comes up and after a couple hours got water to start running. ...

RE: Carpet rippeling

I just replaced my carper this past summer. Had heard the same thing about carpet being under the walls. Mine wasn't. Try pulling up a corner such as in a closet. If it's not under the wall there, you're probably ok else where. Part of the rippling could also be from the padding breaking down in tra...

RE: Thermostat

Thanks Robert! Someone told me that a heat only thermostat wouldn't work in reverse when I switched it to cooling. All the stat does is set the temp. Switching between cool and heat and running the fan is done on the furnace itself. You've been a big help. Thanks again!

Thermostat

I would like to replace my wall thermostat but am unsure what type to use. There is about a 7 - 1o degree temp difference before it turns the furnace on. I see no way of adjusting the variance on the one we have now. We are getting cold before the furnace kicks on then we are 'cooking' before it sto...

RE: air leak in ductwork

Sounds like a great idea Robert! I have a single wide Fleetwood. 16x80. Is it difficult to see where the duct work connects to the furnace? That's where I think there is a leak. Really appreciate your help. I will check out the rest of the duct the way you mention.

air link in ductwork

Looks like this topic was addressed back in May, but, not sure where I should go. I have noticed that the hallway floor next to my furnace was cold this summer. Crawled under the home to see what I could see. In some of the lines coming thru the belly wrap there was a pretty good 'breeze' felt thru ...

RE: Sub Floor

You all have excellant tips. My subfloor is in good shape, other than pulling away from each other. Its not rotten or anything. And I have seen the palm nailers advertised somewhere. Sounds like a great Fathers Day gift! hmmm... I'm not as agile as I use to be. Crawling on the ground under my mobile...

RE: Sub Floor

Thanks Greg...I'm not able to see anything from the underside with out tearing open the belly wrap. There is another 'squeek' on the same floor. I have been toying with the idea of pulling the floor up to see whats going on down there. I'd also like to check the duct work at the same time. Make sure...

Sub Floor

It's been awhile since I came to all of you for help. But this has me perplexed. I noticed a crack forming in the floor in front of my front door, running across the room. The crack over time has gotten wider. The vynyl has cracked. Looking into the crack it is where one sheet of subfloor meets the ...

There doesn't seem to be any insultion close to the pipe. Would it hurt to stuff some in there (with out the paper of course)?
