Re: changing propane to electric furnace

If you can change propane companies do so. Electric heat can get outrageous.

Re: No hot water this morning

It does sound like they changed out the Lower Heating Element. Usually with 40+ Gallon there are 2 elements, Upper & Lower. Lower is the most common one to go. In my opinion 15 years is quite good, certainly got your monies worth. The only thing to remember is that if your water is hard you prob...

Trying to convince bank to allow moving of mobile home

Im making payments on a private piece of land and I am allowed to move the home to it. It's a deal through a friend so he really doesn't mind the land being vacant. It's just about paid off and I was looking into moving the home. However, the loan company told me I would have to pay off the home fir...

Re: No hot water this morning

Being the original water heater if is and given its going on 15 years I would say its probably on its way. I would say replace the tank before a leak happens. Most tank water heaters are rated for 5 - 10 years life expectancy. Replacing a electric water heater is fairly simple even for the non-exper...

Anybody good with CPU tweaking?

I use to back in the day but it's been over 10 years since I modified a computer. I just upgraded my video card and CPU & Heatsink. I got this massive insane heatsink that required me to cut out and custom make a new service door on the computer. But it keeps it hell alot cooler. Anyways, the pr...

Re: Bought a preowner mh with a lot of problems...

Puttying and pipe wrap should be considered a temporary fix for the time being. I wouldn't bank on leaving it like that. But I have used this stuff before and it works good. http://www.fernco.com/plumbing/pow-r-repair/pow-r-wrap If it's not on the pipe and on the meter itself cause I wasn't sure whe...

Re: water heater replacement

jpingram5, MH approved units draw combustion air from the OUTSIDE not the interior of the home as a conventional home unit. Should a backdraft happen the carbon monoxide will be directed outside the home not into it. Are companies that manufacturing MH approved units ripping us off? Maybe, but you ...

Re: water heater replacement

And just so you understand. If you have home owners insurance or a warranty on the home. Installing anything that is not approved for use in a mobile will void the warranty and your insurance company will use that against you also in the event of an accident. Thats the risk you have to understand al...

Re: Underbelly laying on the ground

I told him to give a call and complain. I agree 100% with you on as far as being serviceable. It was very poor judgement on whom ever set the home. Hopefully it works out for him. Would be sad to have to rip up the bathroom to fix a pipe or something silly since you can't get underneath.

Re: water heater replacement

A mh wh has the combustion area pretty well sealed from intake to exhaust, a standard wh is not. Besides increased fire risk, you also greatly increase the chances of a carbon monoxide incident from backdrafts down the flue. Not a good thing to risk your lives over. It's either sealed combustion or...

Re: First time home buyer, How much will central AC run me?

That is 100% correct WildIrish. I figured they already had a heat source such as oil or gas, which could then be used as a backup with the new heat pump. But I should have stated that living in mild to extreme climates should have backup source. The heatpumps are usually good down to around 25 - 35 ...

Re: Underbelly laying on the ground

There's no water leak. The belly doesnt sag a lot. Its just that at that end of the home they set the frame so freakin low to the ground its impossible to get under and the middle of the belly all the way down sags a little for the ductwork and some plumbing i believe. I opened it up at the other en...

Re: Normal cooling??

How many square feet is your home? Possible your unit is not sized correctly. Do you live in a area where its frequently extreme hot summers of 100+ days??

Did you have a well know company check the unit or some random "HVAC Guy"?
