Our handyman is here to do the ceiling and he doesn't think he needs to use furing strips across the 16" Center 1.5X1.5 (I think 2x2's)"s. He said your not really accomplising anything by doing so. Please advise as he is getting ready to hang the sheetrock. HELP!!! 1/2" Ich sheetrock ...

I think we will split and go with 1/2'. Its easier to come by then 3/8" and not as heavy as 5/8"

Thank you and were off to the lumber yard.

Another quick question - what size sheetrock on the walls do you suggest? He has 1/2 ' written down. We are on a full walk out basement under full cover and hardly get any wind minimal if any.

Would you think 1/2 would be o.k or should we go with 3/8?

Thanks Greg: Well on the windows - since the outside is tin/siding and if you make a smaller window won't it look funky on the outside.. I would think it would look tacky. Not the problem if you go bigger but the windows in our living room are so large I really don't hink I can find any to replace w...
