I believe I seen that on Extreme Engineering, or some show like that. It's a huge excavator. Probably found in surface mines.

It is an excavator for open pit mines. The wheel part on the end rotates, it has a bunch of scoops on it that take the ore from the ground and transfer it to a conveyor belt. They can move a lot of dirt in a day, and are huge!
