Hi everyone,
We were just getting ready to install a new light. I got an outside ceiling mount(lantern style) to go inside our bathroom. Problem is when reading a warning label on the instructions we dont have a clue what it means. Hubby has always installed our lights, ceiling fans etc before but this one has him stumped. It say: Warning: For fixtures provided with 75 degree C pr 90 degree C supply wire warning only(these warning are provided on the U.L. Label and on the fixture carton. Warning Risk of fire. Most dwellings built before 1985 have supply wire rated 60 degree C. consult a qualified electrician before installings .

If supply wires are located within 3" of Ballast, use wire rated for at least 90 degree C.

Well we don't have a clue what all this means. Our place is a 1986. Could it be cause the fixture can use a 100 watt bulb or something. We've guessed several things but we want your opinion.

With a manufacturers name and model number it might be possible to Google it for more information from the company.
You mention Ballast so I am thinking florescent bulb. is it?

We figured it out. Our wiring(box) whatever he said is 60 -75 is all it would hold. Anyways I got to take it back.

Hi RSG,

I ran into that problem when I replaced our outside lights a few years back. All of those that I wanted went back to the store. I had to settle for what would work.

I feel your pain! Sometimes our homes are a real challenge to decorate!
