Hi All,
Finally decided to buy a small (6000 btu) window A/C for my bedroom. Anyone have any tips on installing in the usual MH metal-framed windows with interior storm window? Right now I just have a 2X8 running the length of the window frame as a base with a 3/4" slot cut in the bottom of the 2X8 for the outer window frame to fit into. I have the sliding guide panels flush with the interior storm window frame and the unit sticks out about 7" from the outer window frame. I also moved the unit to one side of the window (not centered). Seems to be fairly stable, but I'm just wondering how strong are these MH window frames and should I support the unit outside with some sort of framework, but then, where would one attach the framework to the exterior of the home? Thanks for any ideas.

That's the way I had our's set up before I changed windows, seemed to work fine.
