Hello,

We have a septic system consisting of the septic tank itself and a separate tank containing a high head pump (This one: https://www.amazon.com/HP-Schaefer-Effl ... B00IASVGHU) which pumps the water from it several hundred yards away to a sprinkler system.

Over the past few years, we have been experiencing regular failures of the pump, meaning we have been buying a new pump about every 6 months. I think the problem might be that as originally installed by the contractor, the pump lies flat on the bottom of the tank and is picking up sediment. I've noticed that a lot of installations have the pump sitting vertically instead of horizontally since the pump's inlet is in the middle. Can anyone tell me if there is any reason I shouldn't re-install the pump vertically instead of flat on the bottom of the tank?

Thanks.
