RE: J.B Weld fixed my screens.

Lowes has aluminum screen frame in lengths, screen material and the plastic corners. You would need to cut the corners with a mitre box and saw to the size of your windows. You might be able to use sheet metal screws through the screen frame and then into the metal window frame of the trailer. If yo...

RE: On demand tankless hot water heater?

I ordered a new tank water heater yesterday for $600 installed. The tankless would be much more then we want to pay. Our present heater really only needed a new thermostat, but it is now 21 years old with some rust showing at the bottom. The original warranty was 1 year and the new one will be 6 yea...

On demand tankless hot water heater?

Looks like we need a new hot water heater. 30 Gallons. This on is heating really hot all of a sudden. I mean scalding. It is probably 10 years old at least with some rust showing at the bottom which peeled of the lower paint. Does anyone have one of those new small on demad tank less water heaters h...

Florescent light to see drywall mud mistakes.

I read somewhere that after muddying a wall it is easier to see mistakes with florescent lights. I have been doing the "plaster the grooves in paneling thing". I bought a 4 bulb florescent drop light [trouble lite] that has 2 switches. One for turning on 2 bulbs and the other for all 4 bul...

J.B Weld fixed my screens.

Our window screens are all original and at least 20 years old. The little plastic corner locks [plastic angle pieces] which hold each rail together at the corner had turned to dust. They dissolved when i touched them and the frame flopped out of square like a limp fish. Too hard to try to dig out ea...

RE: Interior wall insulation?

Thanks for the confirmation of what I was thinking. The wall I'm working on could use some "Bowing out" though. What ever factory and what ever employee put this home together must have hated their customers. I believe it was Craftsman in '87. I really love a challenge though and this one ...

Interior wall insulation?

Is there any benefit to having insulation inside the interior walls other than for sound deadening?

While putting mud on the grooves in the wall paneling I saw there is no insulation. I was thinking you could pump in form.

RE: Mercury bulb vs digital?

Thanks for the detailed heads up.
It might well be worth the money to keep from getting up to change the thermostat when it gets too cold, only to find it was a hairs breath away from turning it's self down.

Mercury bulb vs digital?

Is the new digital thermostat more sensitive to temperature changes then the mercury bulb type. Does it react quicker without over cooling or heating?

RE: Your recommendation for paint

For me, the preasure washer is a definite no-no, because there is no sheathing under the siding. That would seep into the insulation. As for Sherwin Williams, I was most impressed by their descriptions of the paint they recommend for Vinyl. Others are good I guess as well. I won't be painting until ...

Your recommendation for paint

What is your best suggestion for an Exterior Vinyl Siding Paint?

So far I have read about Kilz Exterior and Valspar Duramax, the later of which says it covers in one coat with no primer.

I understand that cheap is out and I expect to pay the price for quality.

I know about the pre-cleaning bit.

RE: Another gas hike????

Her in SC it has dropped below $3, around $2.89. There will of course be another rise soon . We can't control it, so we have to live with it. We lived in Sparks NV for over 20 years and I figured that it must cost more to haul the gas up and over Donner. Not to mention the added cost of those "...

Lumps and bumps under tiles.

The living room and dining room floors have depressions and or bumps in a couple of places in the peel and stick floor tiles. 18" tiles. The previous owner tore out the 20 year old shag carpeting [yuk] and tiled the kitchen, dining room and living room about 4 months ago, just before we bought ...

With a manufacturers name and model number it might be possible to Google it for more information from the company.
You mention Ballast so I am thinking florescent bulb. is it?
