RE: Shower stall recomendations

So, I guess the saying is true that Loose lips sink ships.

I wish those TV do it yourself shows would show how the other half lives on the other side of the tracks.

The bathroom will have to wait till next year I guess.

Thanks for the words of advise.

RE: New Construction or Replacement window?

I forgot the before picture. Here it is. The white panel was wood and completely rotted out. The paint was the only thing holding it all together. If you have this same style please check it and poke it with something pointy to see if it is rotted. This was all original to 1986. Amazing. http://mobi...

RE: New Construction or Replacement window?

No actually, I got the New Construction style with the nailing ears on it. They also used the rubber adhesive backed paper to seal before putting the window in place.

I taped and mudded the interior drywall and sanded down the casing trim before painting.

RE: Shower stall recomendations

Greg and JD. The present shower is a one-piece unit and will have to be sawed in half to remove. This I will enjoy. [It's cutting time again]. The bathroom is barely 8Ft square. I may start to demolish it myself as long as I can shut off the water underneath first. May have to have extra shutoff's i...

Shower stall recomendations

I have a typical telephone booth shower that you step UP into it and then down to the bottom a couple of inches. Great for tripping when leaving the shower. 28x29 inches of usable space. If I bend forward to wash my foot my head hits the wall. If I passed out I would remain standing. I removed the g...

http://mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/userpix/716_Huntington_Beach_SC_032_1.jpg Never upload a picture before. Took a little work though. Area inside of blue tape is the new size of the window. Green painted wall area on the left is where I found that the wall was not fastened to the floor. Talk about ...

RE: New Construction or Replacement window?

New Construction it is.
Went to HD this morning and exchanged the window for the right kind. Reconstruction starts tomorrow at 0800.
Hopefully I'll be posting pictures.

RE: New Construction or Replacement window?

Greg. The siding has a very faint wood grain showing. I was going to paint it all any way. If push comes to shove they can take siding off the interior wall of the enclosed porch where it joins the house. I was thinking of drywalling that anyway. This will convince the wife, because she said to leav...

New Construction or Replacement window?

The carpenter who will replace my rotted rim joist ,other studs and a section of rotted flooring said I could buy any window I wanted and he would install it. I went to Home Depot a got a "replacement" style window, but I think now that I should have gotten a "New Construction" t...

Craftsman Manufactured Home Inc circa 1986? I presume they are long out of business by now. I am trying to find as much data about our home as possible. At first I thought it had been re-sided with BLUE vinyl, but I just found another house identical to ours on the next street over with the same lum...

RE: Rectangular panel outside under each window?

Ah yes, the rim joist. It is rotted out under the window area, so it has to be replaced. They are basically going to take the wall apart and rebuild it, plus install a "Real" window. As for the vinyl siding he thinks it was originally T-111, but why would they replace that with vinyl and N...

Rectangular panel outside under each window?

I have the typical mobile home storm/screen windows and underneath each one outside there is a large, rectangular wood panel with trim molding in the center. There is nothing solid behind these panels, just the studs and some old insulation. Why they just didn't continue the vinyl siding across unde...

Depending how many people listen to you're home theater at one time you could buy wireless stereo headphones and a couple extras . The best way to hear stereo. I use them on my tv when my wife is asleep and they really get you into the movie better. You can crank them up until your eyeballs pop if y...
