RE: burn/ stain on countertop
The cutting board idea sounds great to me.... ! If I could turn back the clock I would do just that myself....install or mount a cutting board right over the burned place... we had a burn the size of a dinner plate... and we decided to replace the countertops and the sink. From there our kitchen &qu...

RE: Move Diagonal Wall
This is a saga. I painted the ceiling so awesomely (just the way I learned on this site...) already, at the first, when we weren't planning on moving any walls or redoing cabinets.... it is a real nice cream-colored semigloss....looks lovely. At that time I had to repair what was left after a botche...

Move Diagonal Wall
I am seriously considering "straightening" out the kitchen wall. It is the goofiest design I have ever seen: diagonal with two angles. One end of the kitchen is very narrow, and the wall ends up right at the marriage joint making the whole kitchen into a large, deformed "V" shape...

RE: Restoring aluminum siding
This really interests me.... you said you had it done... but I am wondering how hard do you think it would be for us to do it ourselves? Has anyone out there had any experience with the process? Like, does it need to be hand polished, like car wax?
thanks so much.

Beauty Tip
While painting the other evening, I discovered a great beauty tip. All you have to do is start rolling white primer (I used the BullsEye brand) on walls, shelves, inside linen closets, etc and get your head kind of close to your work so it barely brushes against the freshly painted surfaces. Don't o...

RE: Beadboard in Kitchen
Thank you all for your suggestions etc. I bought the "el-cheapo" full-panel (4x8) bead board and laid it out on the bed over 2x4s and another piece on the LR floor to sand and paint....(covered the bed up with dropcloths) so far I have one coat of primer on it I did last nite at about 11 p...

RE: Beadboard in Kitchen
thanks for the feedback. I went to HD today and picked up more varnish for the cabinets and was looking at the beadboard. I saw the different types, and will follow your suggestion and get the paintable kind... looks like it doesn't need as much sanding either. I have been stirring up different shad...

RE: Washer and Dryer
I am thinking ahead.... when we get the place finished, we will put in the standard types of washer/dryer..... yes, plywood was put down, and anywhere the joists were iffy, they "shored" them up somehow....the handyguy specializes in mobile homes. I will check into the pads. If it helps it...

RE: Couple of landscaping projects
I really like what you did!!!!! It looks charming and very creative. It makes me want to bag the whole inside "thing" and do my landscaping. I planted a few Caladiums in my front planter along with some Boston ferns and some Crown of Thorns that I transplanted from the yard where I actuall...

RE: Wallpaper over paneling
Thank you for all your help. It seems to have been put on with a lot of glue. It is pretty heavy paper, good quality. I will take your advice and try a portion to see how it takes the paint... if it turns out poorly, I guess it wouldn't be any big deal then to just peel off the paper, paint and all....

RE: Beadboard in Kitchen
I am hoping it won't be too hard to clean.... I kind of worry about it behind the stove... I have been looking on the web and have seen some nice pictures of it used as back-splash, and behind the cabinets... I will let you know what I decide, tho I am pretty well convinced I want to put it up. I th...

RE: How to clean vinyl siding on MH?
I bought one of those brushes for Hubby to use, it works good but he says the water runs right down the wand and down his arms and into his shirt... he hates the feeling. Soooo, what he does is mix about a half gallon of bleach with a lot of water in a big storage tub, stirs in some Tide, and he dip...

I love that fence.... so how did you do it...? were the little trees still green when you wove it? this is a great idea, and so "artsy"!
Is it tied together somewhat? please let me know. thanks.

Wallpaper over paneling
Hi, me again! a past owner of my "palace" has put up wall paper over some of the paneling. I pulled some of it off in a bedroom and did the scrubbing, scraping and sanding to get the wall ready to paint...then my handyman said just to paint over it. (sigh) I have painted over the standard ...
