RE: Saga of First Time MH Owners

On the up side 3/4"plywood is only running abot $25/sheet (here in cent.NY) and screws are not that bad, and you will save a lot on labor!! Make no mistake the first section will take some time, but it will go quicker once you have done a section or two. Greg

RE: Tyvek flammable or insulation

As far as I know tyvec should be fine, First the heat ducts should be above the insulation& tyvec. Second if your ducts are getting hot enough to start a fire you have problems far more major than melted tyvec. Greg

RE: Saga of First Time MH Owners

Lynnie, on the plus side you will know for sure what has been done, when & how it was done. I am sure by the time you are through you will have found more to do and some "extra" things you want changed around. just think about what you are actually paying vs what you COULD be paying fo...

RE: polybutylene

If I remember right most of the leaks were at the fittings due to bad crimp rings. MOST of the rings are in areas that you can keep an eye on, however if there is a splice in the wall or under the floor you will never see it before it turns into a problem. Greg

RE: Patience please- rant/vent

Jaie, it sounds to me like an uphill battle, You have to take a long hard look at it to determine if it is worth it, in the long run you are the only one that can make that decision. $900 is not a lot for a move, unfortunately the short distance gives it a distorted view, if it were 10 miles you wou...

RE: Smoke Detectors

Personally, I feel as long as you have WORKING detectors I would not care if they are hard wired or battery operated. Code would come into play when the home is sold (or rented). Greg

RE: Patience please- rant/vent

I have only delt with one tip out and that was years ago. It seems to me like they ended up pushing it in "gently" with a backhoe. If you go that route make sure that all of the locks/bolts that hold it open are unlocked or removed. I can gaurantee that it will be closed (or broke off) if ...

If push comes to shove, acess panels are not hard to make on some walls you can carefully remove the whole wall panel depending on the wall material. Greg

Nobody said you could not use tile, what we said was that by using it you may be opening a can of worms down the road. Done correctly in small areas you may not have a problem. Greg

RE: Countertop got wet then warped

Hi & welcome to the family. You did not say how old your home is, but if the counter top is starting to delaminate I would say it is time for replacement. There are many options avalable to you you can order one of many precut tops, or you can even make your own with 3/4" plywood and tile. ...

It does sound like a ventilation problem to me. A fan may help if the problem condensation in the room, if the problem is between the roof & ceiling than some form of roof vents will be needed. Greg

We have had banner crops of them the last few years here also, they will destroy the foliage for acres in the Adirondacks they seem to take a fancy to maples but any leaf is fair game. you can try using a soap mix on them but it may be like trying bail a sinking boat with a paper cup. Greg
