RE: waiting for siding
Hey troyster, Really great pics! Please keep taking pictures frequently, so we can have a good step by step album of siding installation. It would be very helpful to anyone installing siding. It would be great if you could get some close-ups of the process of flashing under the windows and how you e...

Hi Nancy Kay,
You would click My Profile Space and then from there, click Edit Profile. The place where you put in your picture (avatar) is at the bottom of the page. The file size is limited to 12K.

RE: Burglar proofing
Hi Tim, Really feel bad for you. I can understand what you are saying about that feeling of lost security. Unfortunately, while there are ways to install a better door, there is not much you can do about windows or cars. Everyone has a risk of being burglarized. But as you know, in some neighborhood...

RE: bath exh. fan installation
A lot will depend on the unit you choose. I have not installed one with heat or heat lamp, but I have installed lots of different exhaust fans. Securing the fan to truss can be tricky if you have 1x2 or 2x2 trusses. The fans I have used were wanting 2x4 or bigger. It can still be worked out though. ...

Yeah you are probably right Bill. I probably voted and forgot that I did. I just wanted to see how the poll worked. This one is great!

Here is a link
http://www.ondura.com/index.htm
Looked all through the site and was not able to see what the stuff is actually made or. With the recycled materials icon, it makes me think some type of plastic or composite.

RE: Roof coating
I really don't understand how the mobile home/RV industry came up with the idea that roof vents can be made of plastic. Maybe there is a space age plastic that could work, but that is not what they make these plumbing vents with. Always use metal vent caps. I use the bell type galvanized caps. When ...

Re: Roof coating, AmyKay
What is the real difference between the silver/aluminum coating and the white elastnomeric type? Mine has been in need of coating for some time but today I replaced the sewer vent and realized it was much worse than I had thought. There is very little coating left of what once was. Which will provi...

RE: Roof coating
While many people will add coating to the top of old coatings, my company will not. We always remove the old coating. We use a large buffer with a braided wire brush to grind off old coatings. This does require a bit of experience or being very careful, to not over-grind the metal roof. Working an a...

RE: Roof coating
Hi Amy, The main silver product is Alum-A-Seal. My personal opinon is that it is "old hat" product. It was the competitor to the off-white Plas-T-Cote many years ago. Even Plas-T-Cote has brought out an elastomeric coating product, keeping up with the changes in the coatings market. I feel...

RE: Disney World tips anyone?
We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge 4 years ago and it was absolutely wonderful! The whole lodge thing was very impressive, the rooms were very nice and the service was second to none. The maintenance staff was the most considerate as I have seen. We also had a small problem with Epcot Center and ...

I don't think you can vote on your own poll. The fishing poll I came up with only gives me the results and not the clickable radio boxes.

RE: Garden Tub Removal
Hi Tim, Dremmel makes a grout removal attachment that can be used to remove the grout completely. Maybe just remove the first course of tile to get to the tub flange. There are two sizes of bits. I would go with the larger size for the best separation. If the grout is thinner than the bit, cut just ...

RE: for JD
Yeah, don't know if I said that right. The flat metal flashing under the window should not be sealed. It will be cut to end in the middle of the clip of the first full course under the window and just left there. The course that is notched and clipped into the finish trim will hold it where it belon...

p.s already installed foam underlay and ran it under aluminum siding that I left around windows because windows weren't coming out Sounds like a good plan to me. I would still tape the top of the cut aluminum to the foam board with Eternabond or at least the cheap window underlayment tape from the h...
