RE: Compressor/nailer question
Stillworking, I own a porter cable finish nailer, I also work for a National rental house, they rent both Bostich & porter cable, I can honestly say that I have seen less problems with the P.C. than Bostich. I agree with the rest, use screws the last thing you want is a squeek in the floor. Greg

RE: mobile home information
Mist, I have 2 recommendations for you, First is Mark's book. He wrote it in general terms, there are no model specific parts in it. second, go through the archives, you will soon see where the majority of the problems lie and what to look for. As others have said water is your homes biggest enemy. ...

RE: Web site troubles
Mark, I personally like McAfee, BUT, after I installed it on this unit (after I had talked to their tech support) I could not even get to the desktop. I had to go to system recovery and turn back the clock just to get it to boot. I stand by my thought that this OS was a rushed program that we are fi...

RE: window frame question
One other thing to think about, When building the new frame, use screws, you really don't want to pound on your walls any more than you have to. there is less damage with screws. Greg

Squirt, Try loging in on I.E. rather than AOL if that is what you are using, I have had problems on both but IE seems to work when AOL isn't. Are you using Vista? I have had nothing but problems with it on all fronts as far as I am concerend that is where the bulk of my problems lie. Greg

RE: Painting, Drywall and Flooring, OH MY!
Mom, Hi & welcome to the family. First let me recommend Mark's book (Mark is the owner of this site) the Manual for mobile homes. He wrote it in generic terms for the DIY. Flooring, Laminate is an excellent choose for mobiles, one thing you want to check first and repair if needed is the sub flo...

RE: suggestions on siding repair
Ted, I understand what & why you are trying to do, however I can about guarantee that all you are doing is postponing the fix. Many people here have tried what you want to do, perhaps you can check the archives and check what others have done. One thing you have to remember is that water is your...

RE: Electrical Fault
You will need to check the voltage at the breaker since you have found an 80 volt reading you need to work backwards untill you find the full 110v. IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS IN YOU ABILITY PLEASE CALL AN ELECTRICIAN!! We do not like to hear about any family members getting hurt or killed by electricity...

Very good advice from Yanita & troy, they both know what they are talking about. One other thing to look very close at is the tub itself, plastic tubs are known to crack, usually around the drain so what looks like a trap leak could be a crack in the tub. Greg

Mist, since you did not say how much and what type or plumbing you are replacing it is hard to give an honest answer but here goes. If you are doing a total 100% replacement of say galvanized pipe it is going to take some timeI would bet on the connectors being rusted solid so plan on sawing them ap...

RE: Rain Gutters
I would stick with the installer's recommendation for a few reasons. First HE will be responsible for any problems. Second, YOU would have to remove and seal up about a half a million screws to get the old gutters off and remember that every hole is a possible leak. Greg

RE: Krud Kutter? Other ideas for first clean?
I'm a firm believer in the citrus based cleaners. We buy in bulk but Walmart has the premixed (rubbermade has a good one). In bulk I can mix from taking off adhisive to general cleaning depending on how much water I mix with it. PLUS it smells good!!!
