The rod part expands after it is through the hole by you wrenching it with an open end wrench. It has teeth that clamp into the truss. 16" should be no problem. The box is held to the rod by U bolts which you can slide to where the hole is and then tighten them down with a screwdriver. The cont...

RE: Other great MH resources.

I'm with you. This is the best MH site and believe me I've looked. I also like to look at decorating sites. The only good place I've found is on HGTV.com . Go to "rate my space" and do a search on "Mobile home." There are tons of great houses. The website is maddeningly slow thou...

Texasprairierose is SO correct about labs. They do chew as pups and then a switch goes off. I'm on my third lab. One lived to be 15 .5 and the pure bred only lived 10.5 years. Present dog is 5.5. They are truely the kind of dog that will hang out on the front porch or follow your son around with no ...

Electric Fireplaces 50% off

I was in my local Home Depot Saturday morning and they are changing displays to spring already. All the fireplaces are 50% off! I got mine last year at this time for 50% off, paid $189, and thought I'd pass it along in case someone here is thinking of getting one. It's strange how they push the seas...

It might be wise to invest in some Kevlar work gloves and a good book on power tools. And read it. Don't forget to always wear eye protection.

Okay...just went to the HGTV website and the search feature is gone. I looked at the message boards and they say that as of Jan 15 the search feature is temporarily disabled. It will be back eventually. There's no way right now to specifically find mobiles.

RE: faux tin ceiling in mobile

Yeah my neck has been hurting ever since I started thinking about it. My textured ceilings have no stains and are not bowing so I'm in good shape. The beadboard would need to be tacked and glued along ceiling joists. It's only a 1/4 inch thick so in my case the weight wouldn't be too much. But of co...

Sorry no one has answered you yet. You should try to post in the general repair forum. I think it sounds like vent box has come loose from the duct. You might have to get some duct tape and a flashlight and crawl up under. Get a sheet of cardboard or plastic to lie on. I'm wondering if the cat wante...

RE: faux tin ceiling in mobile

I looked at that site and you need more like four sheets of the material at 19.99 plus shipping and molding. Tin ceilings and look a likes are tricky because you need to center them perfectly or it looks weird. It can be done but it's not realistic for me. I'm personally not detail oriented enough. ...

Thanks. I always enjoy seeing decorating pictures. If you go to www.HGTV.com and go to "rate my space" and do a search of "mobile homes" there are 18 pages of people's mobiles! Some really great talent there! Enjoy!

I did a Google search on it and found a discussion on a forum called gardenweb. Several people there liked it. The only problems people had was when they tried to grout the seams which is optional. It sounds fine! If you do grout it, clean the excess grout as you work. If you let the excess dry, you...

RE: Proper sealant

You can buy the expanding foam sealant marked "windows & Doors." It will not expand so hard it warps or moves framing around. It's good stuff and easier to cut back after it drys. I did notice that it is significantly cheaper at my Walmart than at Home Depot. One thing: plan on using t...
