Re: Bathtub Removal

ok, if no access from , is one end installed against an interior wall? how would that wall look in wainscoating? lol. what I am getting at is, if that wall is where the plumbing is (faucet and shower diverter etc) next time you need to replace a faucet, you probably would be cutting an access panel,...

Re: Bathtub Removal

if the floor is shot, the underbelly probably is too.... is there any way to fix the floor from below and not disturb the tub? are the joists shot, or could you put 3/4 inch plywood between the joists, lift with a jack, and secure to the joists? you could take a peak from below....pull down a little...

Re: Philips "crank out" windows - help please

this is a store in Ohio that has repair parts for windows... you may want to look at their website, and see if your region has a window repair company that would be similar. http://www.pickenswindowparts.com/ if you cannot find such a store, maybe call this one, and see if you can mail a crank and g...

Re: philips crank out window

this may be a short term fix, but since it is a back door.... use metal screws to permanently shut the current window get frosted plexiglass, cut a template out of cardboard to fit the inside and the outside of the window. The cardboard is so you can figure out what looks best, fits the best, fittin...

Re: From a newbie: about re-leveling, please help

I think you need to look at the other recent post Greg? did on releveling, where he talked about only raising or lowering the home so much at a time, then doing a second round of it. I have found with most contractors that if you want the companies to do something "extra" like that, that e...

Re: window sills

I only mentioned the 18 inch square because I can cut strips out of it faster than if I were cutting the strips out of 12 inch "stock". I liked the tile I was using because it was pretty much score it, snap, cut the color coat layer, I did not have to cut completely through the tile while ...

Re: window sills

if you have enough space, I have peeled off as much of the old paneling/sill lining as possible, patched with 1/4 luann, and cut strips of granite patterned stick on tile, (stuck on and stapled in place about every 4 inches) and caulked the edges of the tiles.... so far so good, has been through 90 ...

Re: Leveling Questions

ok, this may be out there.... maybe check that the corner that seems so low is not partially that the floor inside has rotted and disconnected from the wall, which could make it be quite a bit below the rest of the floor... I mention this because I have found two different times the back corner of t...

Re: Water/Sewage draining on the ground

yes, all of that, and if it fell off of the toilet, you may have to remove the toilet, fix the floor (probably) reinstall the flange by regluing it to the drain line, get a new wax ring, reinstall the toilet.... lets hope that is not what is wrong, but if it is, the archives have lots of details on ...

Re: Water/Sewage draining on the ground

here is an overview of the repair.... 1 you have to figure out what the drain line material is (black pipe is abs?, white is pvc) and get matching material if possible. it may be only the rv store or the mobile home parts store will have it if it is the black pipe. 2 see if any of the parts such as ...

you may be able to match up the pipe size by wrapping the tape around the pipe in place, get a total measurement, then do the same measurement on the possible replacement pipes....

Re: installing a ceiling fan in the ceiling with no exposed

if the ceiling fan is out..... I have a great vertical fan that takes up very little space. (I think they are called tower fans) about 12 inch square base, it is between 2 to 3 ft tall, it can turn from side to side or stay in one spot, and it has its own remote control or you can push the buttons.....

Re: leaking window

could you get a photo of the outside of the whole window, including some of the wall? I would suspect you have water flowing down the wall and getting into the window from outside, where some of the sealant has a gap.... the fix would be, see where the water is coming from (leak in gutter/drip chann...

Re: Find the problems - win a mug #2

can I guess again? 1. no pad under blocks 2. blocks need to be turned 90 degrees (darn geometry gets me every time) 3. need to have used less wood, replace most of wood with a 8 by 16 by 2 inch construction grade solid cement block ( same size as a paver brick, but in area, a paver brick would not b...
