Re: window question
Hey, thanks guys! I finally got a piece of 30" X 36" glass at Lowes yesterday and completed the install by nightfall. I was not able to remove the old glass in one piece to measure it, so I had to bust it out and then measure against the frame itself by noting how far the glass pane overla...

Re: window question
Oh btw... I forgot to note that these windows are installed in a 1997 model Palm Harbor and they were made by Philips Industries, Inc. which is now out of business as of 2009. I tried locating information and maybe a breakdown online, but was not able to do so. Someone else may have better success t...

Re: window question
Yes, upgrading the windows was definitely on our list of things to do, but we are moving and are trying to fix the house up to get ready for market with limited funds. Ok, scary nightmare window mystery NOT so scary after all... The window pane is pressed into the aluminum frame from the front. I wa...

Re: window question
Thank you for the replies. The window I need to remove is the outside upper window and it's fixed in place. The outside lower window slides up and down in a track, but doesn't look to be removable. The inside lower window is also on a track and is easily removed from the inside. But the outside wind...

Re: window question
I have this very same type of window. However, I need to replace a broken pane on the OUTSIDE window. I was hoping there was a way to do it without having to remove the vinyl siding and frame on the outside. Is there a way of getting the OUTER pane out from the INSIDE in order to measure and replace...

Re: Limited to Mobile Home equipment ONLY, or upgrade duct w
Thanks for that reply jpingram5. I don't know...I've just been warned about "high static" issues from a couple different people. But maybe it is more of an issue on single-wide mobile's and not so much the double-wide homes? I may be out of the woods on this one anyway since we've backed o...

Re: Online retailer for new split-system?
UPDATE: I spoke with one Goodman online retailer and they seem to be able to circumvent the Goodman warranty restrictions by having you register the unit directly through THEM instead of with Goodman. I don't know if this is legal, ethical, or proper, but the quality of the warranty would only be as...

Re: Online retailer for new split-system?
Beware that if you buy Goodman products online or through any "telephone", "electronic", or "internet" retailer such as Ebay...they will NOT honor their own product's warranty. I just found this out today: http://www.goodmanmfg.com/HomeOld/Warranty/InternetSalesVoidWarr...

Re: Limited to Mobile Home equipment ONLY, or upgrade duct w
Thanks Greg, Unfortunately, that's the reason I'm considering this as a DIY project. A supposedly reputable contractor quoted me between $10k and $14k for a complete install. I can't afford that kind of investment right now. Since I made this post, I went to the Goodman website and found something i...

Re: Limited to Mobile Home equipment ONLY, or upgrade duct w
One other issue... I had a HVAC contractor give me an estimate for a new system, which is why I'm going the DIY route buying my own equipment (will have a certified HVAC installer though). The contractor did what I thought was a simple rule of thumb sizing of the unit I would need. He came up with a...

Limited to Mobile Home equipment ONLY, or upgrade duct work?
Hello, We're buying a 2128SF double-wide and the whole heating/cooling system may need to be replaced. It is missing an evap coil and the outside compressor has had the coolant lines and electrical wiring severed by vandals perhaps up to a year ago. At this point, I do not know if the outside unit e...
