Flooring
The floors in this 40 year old double are linoleum over what appears to be 5/8" particle board. The walls and partitions are all built on top of the linoleum. As I rebuild walls, should I strip away the linoleum under the new boards, or just do it like the original? My inclination is to remove ...

Re: Sheetrock
Thanks, JD. My current subject to change as always plan is to salvage the metal siding and use it on storage sheds. Today I was pulling the last of the pieces around the shower space. It is right next to the electric furnace which, rather obviously, was once a gas furnace. I had planned to keep most...

Re: Sheetrock
Thanks for the answers, folks. It is a great help. These are 2x4 walls on 16" centers. The floors are 2x6 joists on 25" centers, except where they skipped them from time to time. The roof? I don't know what you call it. There are mixed 2x4, 1x2 and 2x2 pieces across the structure, with met...

Hi all, It's been awhile. I am working on my 1974 Homette 24x36 mobile. The exterior walls are 2x4 construction with 1x2 cross pieces. The construction of the wall from the inside out is really thin wallboard, insulation and the aluminum corrugated sheet metal siding. That's it. We are doing about h...

Coleman Presidential 6806A Electrical Q
Still on the planet. Anyhoo, living in a '74 Homette 24x40 (Or so it claims. It measures 36x24). Crossover is beasty shredded, and naturally the "professional" setup people that put it together here 20+ years ago wrapped the flex crossover around the piers they placed right in its route. N...

Re: Nuclear vs. Solar vs Wind. Who is mightier?
I live in what has become a major wind project zone. Ugly is the kindest thing I can say, but they are very profitable because of the monster federal tax breaks and huge grants. Our PUD sold half of their interest in a wind project for what they had invested in it. Now they have a big chunk of the p...

Re: Bathtub
Interesting. The color you want is always more, isn't it? We like the white one. The old one was a rather nauseating avocado green, though if I ran into an avocado that color I would compost it immediately. The tub space is 34" deep on one end, 38" on the other end, and the old tub was 27&...

Bathtub
I have heard that short (54") tubs are expensive and hard to find. I just got one at Home Depot for $129. They had four in stock.
