Success story!
So we started remodeling the 1st half of our 93 doublewide. We took all the paneling down and put up drywall. Then, to deal with the crappy popcorn-style ceilingg, we installed 1" strips and hung 1/2" drywall from them! It looks AMAZING! Not at all like a doublewide! We also extended the s...

Installing a fan under home
Hi guys! Here's the deal. We are in a 28x70 doublewide on a slab with a 20x24 addition that is on just dirt. We have moldy smell issues under the home due to our location. We have plastic skirting with vents every 20 ft. In the winter we take the vents out and put 3" hard foamboard insulation u...

Re: Vacation!
Good call Greg on the rotting. Our skirting is SHOT and it's quite expensive at Home Depot. We were looking for other alternatives I guess.
TY JoeDirt for reminding us about the freezing too... didn't think about that either.
Glad I came here to ask!!!

Vacation!
We are taking the rest of the week to work on the house. Our biggest problems seem to be heating/cooling. We pulled some of the damaged skirting off today to replace it with new and it smells kinda funky underneath... is that normal? Also, there is SOME foam board insulation behind the skirting but ...

Re: Ceiling
I'm sure more experienced people will be along soon with better advice, but from what I've read you should never put double layers of anything due to moisture. Also, the weight of the double layers could be too much for the roof to hold. We had a similar issue and we ended up taking the ceiling out ...

Re: Bathroom Remodel
Greg,
I'll try to pursuade the bf to go back to the original PEX... however, he most likely won't listen.
Thanks!
Tara

Re: Bathroom Remodel
Thanks JD! It really DOES look like glorified cardboard!!! Makes me upset to say the least. Yes, we bought a 25' roll of the PEX pipes too, we may use it elsewhere, I'm not sure yet. The blown in insulation is a pain in the A*S! We have gutted and drywalled THREE rooms now and it just makes a huge m...

Re: Bathroom Remodel
JD, We have vinyl siding, which upon further inspection needs some work in the spring :( 2nd, we found the source of the leak, it is the skylight. This weekend it is supposed to be upper 30s and no snow so we are removing the skylight, covering, re-shingling and so on. We already had to do that to t...
