Exterior Door Replacement

I need to replace an exterior door on a manufactured home and I have a question. I have replaced a few where I had to cut the metal door down to fit with no problems. But I had a friend ask me about the last one I did. The opening in the home was approx. 74" tall. A standard door is approx. 80". I c...

Skirting with Vinyl Siding

Hello,

I had new siding installed on my home. They put the vinyl siding all the way to the bottom of the home. Now there is no room to attach the skirting.

I am using metal roofing as skirting. Can I just attach the J-channel to the vinyl siding at the bottom?

Thank you,
Steve

Roof Truss Repair - Did I make my plywood too short?

I read right here on this great forum about scabbing plywood to the sides of the trusses to repair the roof, and ...

Re: Solar is cheaper than you think

I was just wondering if anyone has tried any of the new 'Build Your Own Solar System" books. I have seen several of these sites. The have testimonials where people were able to build a decent sized panel for less than $200. There's a bunch of sites. When I get a few dollars ahead, I'd like to give o...

Thanks JD. I'll give it a try. I was planning on using 3/8 plywood instead of sheet rock for the ceiling. after the trusses are repaired. I saw in another of your posts about weight of the panels. I was thinking 3/8 plywood in place of sheet rock would help to strengthen the entire ceiling and are m...

Hi JD, Thanks for the reply. The 3/8 or 1/4 I mentioned was to be cut in strips approx 2 inches wide and stuck between the top of the truss and the actual roof filling the gap, or raising the metal in this case. Kind of like a shim. I just thought 1/4 would be more flexible. Thanks again for the ans...
