we want to replace our roof, 24 yrs old, w metal roofing, the kind w/out exposed screws
any advice on how to do, the possibility of a contractor doing for us, etc?

Hi & welcome. You could check the Articles section for a steel roof you can install your self. If you want a factory style roof you are looking at a contractor installed roof.

The best way to find out who is selling and/or installing these roofs in your area is to put "standing seam" and the name of your state in a search engine like Google or grobe. The results will bring up a lot of companies that sell in your area, even though some companies may not be very close to you. i would find all the closest companies and ask them for bids for your project. There can be a big difference in prices, so research and contacting the companies will lot's of questions is the best way to get educated on standing seam roofs and to get your best price.
