I need to know if and how the shower drain strainer can be removed. I have tried but had no success and don't want to damage it. Thx. Mike.

What type do you have? Screen, Pop up? Greg

It may be incorporated into the drain. You might end up under the tub to remove the whole assembly. If you are trying to clean the trap, you could try a "zip strip". They are a plastic strip a few feet long with small barbs on it. Push it down the drain, git it a few twists and pull it back out. It grabs hair and other crud that slows the drain down. Any home center or hardware store should have them. Greg

The screen in my shower was held in by 2 screws. The screws rusted out. I replaced it with a screen from the home store that is simply held in with fiction. It is not obvious by looking at it but I can just pull it straight out.

I also tried the zip strips and did not have much luck with them but they are cheap and easy to try.
