I'm replacing the casing around the window, and when I removed the 1/8'' crap trim that is custom I saw that there was more layered around the inside of my window.
The black strip on the left in the 2nd and 3rd pic is a shadow BTW...
Can I take these off and replace them with real wood, or do I just corner bead and mud around them as is?
What can I do with these windows?

Personally I like the looks of wood, If it were me, I would used some good 1x pine on the sides and then trim the wall with 2" molding, you could add a window sill also if you want. Greg

thanks Greg that helped, I'm definitely planing some trim for around the windows, and despite the pics they're actually quite large, so I'm going with 3 1/2'' trim.
