RE: Grey Water Line Replcement
Chris, there was a class action suit a few years back, as far as I know not much has been done about it. My best advice is that if you are having problems, replace it with PEX and bite the bullet. The way our court system works it may be years before anyone sees a few cents on the dollar for repair/...

RE: Pest Animal Question
Fyre, Hi & welcome. Moth balls do help, the trick is finding the right amount to put down. if you don't put enough they don't work, too much and YOU can't live there. Try scattering a few hand fulls at a time and see if it helps, then seal up the belly & skirting AFTER the critters are gone....

That is basically what we did with our daughters home, paid $300, overhauled it, gave it to her and we are STILL paying for things. I thing we did something wrong! Greg

RE: Concern about aluminum wire
Peter, Just to clarify the issue of aluminum wiring does not just effect mobile homes, many stick built homes used it as well and suffer the same problems. As suggested contact a qualified electrician to give your home a look over. Greg

RE: On demand tankless hot water heater?
You may want to price a thermostat first, if you can solve the problem for under $50 it may be worth it depending on the over all condition of you heater. Greg

For the most part it is difficult at best to give prices here, a lot depends on your location, since we have members all over the world. Perhaps someone is near you, (JD is out your way he may add to this) that can give you an idea. Greg

That's a new one on me. The style of fan that you are talking about was very common in the older homes, but everyone that I have seen was electric. Greg

That is one method, you can also dig a trench and fill it with pea gravel. by using the trench method it allows some give for frost heave if you are in an area that freezes.
You can go to the atricles section to "a better skirting Idea". Greg

RE: Does "as is" really exist?
JD, I guess the question is becoming more of what is "liveable"? If it is a matter of A/C than I would call it liveable, If on the other hand you open the door and fall through a hole in the floor..... Greg

One other thing to check, Can it breath? Many mobils stick the fridg in a corner with a shelf over it, Air has to be able to get to and circulate around the coils. Greg

What we do in our park is $1.00 specials. For $20k I personally would agree with HUD that they should be livable. Greg
