Re: 2xw studded walls. Multi-gang elec boxes.
There is a reason you cannot find 2" shallow, multi-gang boxes. In the trade, shallow means 2 1/2" depth but more importantly there is code capacity for boxes as well as the practicality of fitting all those switch wires in such small boxes. Even if you could fit 2 1/2" boxes in, mult...

Re: Roof Leak Repair Question
The bad news is it could be a major leak and the insulation is absorbing the water and spreading it over a greater area. Take care of it now before it progresses down the wall.

Re: What is the meter mounted on the mobile home???
Yeah, number of possibilities. Are they all working? I'm sure there has been a change in electric companies serving the area and they may have just abandoned one of the meters. The one with the box on the front looks like a electric company controller to turn the AC on/off to save energy. You have n...

I replaced all of my under-sinks with standard 1 1/2 from HD. Everything fit perfectly.

Re: Drywall
I'm afraid I'm going to have to take you to task, Greg S. Many new houses, not mobile homes, and especially high end houses are built with textured walls and ceilings. Perhaps you are picturing the very common thick, texturing used, as you described, to cover cracks, dents, whatever. I owned a house...

Re: Dining Room Flooring
I put down the least expensive(cheap)click together floating floor Home Depot sells, throughout. Some of it has been down 6 months without a problem even where it gets wet near the front door. I posted pictures here awhile back so no sense in duplicating. I guarantee you the horror stories are from ...

Re: Plastic or Metal Part 2
I worked as a plumber when in HS so I know a bit about plumbing. There was no PEX back then so my trailer work was a new adventure. The problems jumped out at me from the get-go. I went the el-cheapo route. No Sharkbite or crimp. "Clinch" is my game. Everything much less expensive and does...

Re: My adventures in Mobile Home duct cleaning!
I'm stunned I tell you, stunned. In this day of magic electronic stuff and you didn't get a robot vacuum? Just stick it in the ducts and let it run loose until the battery runs out. Recharge and repeat. My metal ducts just never seem to hold any dust or dirt so I'm happy. No animals or kids probably...

Re: Important to make sure your skirting is in good shape
I'm in big trouble. One day it was -11F and snowing, the next it was 40F and pouring rain all day. My mighty insulating snow barrier is gone, Completely. I may have enough mud though to hold things together

Re: Looking for Manual for Martin SCF36M(B) Fireplace
Yeah, I too looked out of curiosity. Lots of limited parts on ebay but no manual or reference to one even on the company that bought them site, Monessen. Since this is, more or less a standard type of fireplace I would think that any place that sold and serviced them could help you.

Re: Important to make sure your skirting is in good shape
OK, I guess I'm just lucky. My water supply line comes straight up out of the ground into the closet where the shutoff is and continues as I posted. My heat tape is plugged into the outside GFI receptacle which just happens to be right next to the water pipe. I'm on a slightly sloping lot with the r...

Re: Important to make sure your skirting is in good shape
Well, it's only gotten down to -11F here in Oneonta, NY. No problems since from the park water connection to the shutoff inside next to the water heater, is only two feet and that has heat tape on it. My water heater is inside the back bedroom closet and of course it is heated so I'm wondering about...

Re: Final Attempt at Finding a Solution!
It's too bad I can't put up some audio for you. Being near zero, the furnace comes on pretty often in my 14x70, '70's. I have the straight through from front to back and it is standard metal ductwork. It's easy for me to see that the ductwork, especially nearest the furnace will get hot enough to ex...

Re: Final Attempt at Finding a Solution!
You just described my trailer to a "T" It is expansion and contraction. It was -3F this morning. Can you hear it? Maybe yours is louder than mine as it doesn't bother me at all. Replacing the ductwork is not hard but a major destruction of the trailer in the process and it may no...

Re: laminate floor help needed
As long as we're back on the subject, a reminder, that in my haste on a small area, I forgot. I butted the laminate up against the small area of ceramic tiles at the front door. Probably the extra moisture helped to add an extra cushion  . Easily remedied in my case but don't forget the expans...
