Re: can i paint the ceiling?
Try a test area first! I found out my popcorn ceiling apparently was mixed with paint when applied at the factory. It is hard as a rock. I can sand it and scrape it with a power multitool and it doesn't budge!

Re: How to cut a wall and create an access panel for plumpin
I had my home replumbed years ago. They removed a whole panel in a closet for access to the small bathroom tub/shower and cut a door sized panel in the master bedroom to access the master bath garden tub. They finished off the opening with door frame molding so it doesn't look too bad. I have plans ...

Skylight repair/replace?
Hi, I have a 1990 Fleetwood with a typical plastic bubble type skylight in the master bath. It is leaking and getting worse. There is no rhyme or reason to when it leaks but I thing there has to be wind from a certain direction. No one wants to touch it, the man that reroofed the house 10 years ago ...

Re: Low underbelly issues
What ever you do get your heat tape replaced. I never replaced mine until my inlet pipe froze when the heat tape failed on the coldest day of the year last winter. Missed a day of work waiting for the plumber (he actually came the next day) and cost $500 to replaced the heat tape and insulation. He ...

Re: manufactured home insurance
I have Foremost. We had a water damage claim from a broken water line 10 years ago. They couldn't have been any better. Sent out a restoration team to prevent mold, adjuster came right away, paid everything immediately, even paid us for the electricity to run the 2 huge fans to dry out the bathroom....

Re: Painting
The areas above and below most of my windows are a mess with 1-3 strips to cover the crappy hatchet job they must have done installing the windows at the factory. My plan is to use the thinnest formica I can find, priming and painting it to cover the mess. I don't want to do a traditional patch job ...

Re: Would you recommend painting a popcorn ceiling?
I used a rough textured painting pad to do mine. It's easier to work the paint into the texture and less likely to drip. I tried to scrape off a small section but they must have used oil based paint or something because it was hard as rock. I never got it to budge. I had to remove a bit for a ceilin...

Re: Tub faucet repair
Never mind, it stopped dripping! Here's to another 23 years lol.
I'm actually getting estimates together to replace the tub with a shower pan, so it doesn't have to last that much longer.
Thanks for all the replies!

Tub faucet repair
Well my 23 year old tub faucet has started to drip.
Is there a way to repair this type of faucet or is it a lost cause?

Re: Dining Room Flooring
I installed Allure flooring in my dining room last November with a Luan subfloor underneath. It as help up well, even against the dog's nails and is easy to clean.

Re: Plastic corner beads work for inside corners?
I have used the paper/metal inside and outside corners with success. They are much sturdier than the metal backed paper that comes in a roll that you fold to make inside corners and need much less compound to finish that the plastic ones with that huge corner bead. I just bought some of the outside ...

Re: Filling floor seam
I put down Luan subfloor before laying my Allure planks in the dining room. I had a similar seam and was afraid it would telegraph through the planks. So far so good. I thought I had a pic of the subfloor down but all I can find is the finished floor

Subfloor with Allure vinyl
I just purchased Allure Vinyl flooring for the dining room in my single wide. The subflooring is standard Georgia Pacific particleboard which is in good shape, I sealed some pet stains with Kilz. There are a lot of indentations where the floor was stapled down and 1 seam that isn't perfect but not r...

Re: wallpaper-attempting to paint bathroom
I didn't sand the walls, just the trim. Wash everything down with TSP or similar cleaner. I used several coats of primer, then several coats of color. I used Flat paint and a decent nap on the roller and you can not see the original texture at all.
