This winter we had tons of snow in January. A lot of people in this MH park hired people to shovel the stuff off their double-wide roof. Business was brisk after a couple of carports and a 3-season porch collapsed. We hired someone to shovel off the roof snow too.
But the people who escaped to Florida for the winter never had a problem. It just melted fine once the weather warmed up enough. So, did we just waste money by having the snow shovelled off?

Hi & welcome. Short answer, Maybe. But you have to ask then Is Homeowners insurance a waste of money also?

Any time you have that much weight up there, the risk of roof failure is there. In our area there were MANY roof & building collapses, Even buildings that were 75 - 100 years old.

Personally I use a roof rake and never let more than 6" accumulate, That can mean a few times a week for me, But so far I have not had any roof issues either.
