Installing a sliding glass door, good or bad idea?

Good or bad for what? The view? R-value? Natural light?

With the way mobile homes flex that the glass might be in danger of cracking, never really thought about the R-value, but now that you brought it up.

With a proper header and header supports flex is not an issue. However the issue is whether you have the room above the new door for a proper header. Without it the roof will force the wall above the door to drop ultimately compromising the door opening.
You would need a minimum double 2X8 possibly 2X10 header over a patio door.
Other that that the glass doors should have space to float on there sliders in the openings and should have sufficient room to move without breaking.

There is also an issue with security with sliders. Lots of glass to break and make entry. Just something to think about.
