Celotex fiberboard sheathing

I own a 90's Liberty 14x72 that has Celotex fiberboard as sheathing underneath the vinyl siding. I know from looking at the material myself, that it doesn't seem to hold up well under damp conditions. My question is this: If I replace the vinyl siding and remove the fiberboard, what thickness of plywood or OSB should I put up in it's place before installing new siding? I certainly don't want to put too much weight around the outside of the home. Any ideas? Thanks.

my pile had its aluminum sheeting pulled off, and replaced with vynil siding, with nothing undernieth. That is not the way to do it by any means.

I used 1/2" OSB with Tyvec on our daughter's. Greg
