Prep for Roof Replacement

Hi,
I am replacing a shingle roof with a metal roof and using the mobile home repair book as a guide. The book does not discuss what prep I need to do before I begin installing the new roof. What do I need to remove beyond the shingles and what should stay on the roof? Should I remove everything up to the plywood and then put the insulation on that?
Thanks!

Usually when replacing a roof this is the basic process. Not exactly sure about the metal roof.

1. Remove ALL old shingles and tar paper.

2. Inspect plywood and replace as needed. New drip edging, decide
if you're going to replace the vents for bathrooms, chimney, water heater etc.

3. New tar paper and shingles.

A friend down the road had professionals do his and they removed everything then put down tar paper followed by perlin boards which they placed the pink foam of same thickness as boards in between
as added insulation and then the steel. If you are using the steel sheets.

If you are using the actual steel shingles then just lay new tar paper if old is damaged getting shingles up and then lay shingles.
