making cabinet boxes?
I'd be adding adjustable legs, and painting them white.
Any help would be appreciated.
Is MDF too heavy for this...

It depends on the thickness. Sounds like you are doing freestanding cabinets? Remember, MDF is the worst at swelling when anything wet touches it. You would get better results and longevity (maybe cheaper too) by using either particleboard or plywood. And If you are going white, look into the melamine coated particleboard, they have a very durable finish, and can be shelf width (12"-18" x length) or sheet size (4' x 8').
Are these for a kitchen?

I thought MDF was really good at holding up to moisture???
The cabinets are for the kitchen, and I have thought about the coated particleboard...

Are you building everything yourself?
You probably would come out cheaper and ALOT less labor by buying RTA Ready-to-Assemble cabinets like this.

For what it is worth, We put Sunco in our kitchen when we remodeled it. They are a very well made cabinet with NO partical board, all hardwood and plywood. We did the entire kitchen for $1200. Greg
