I am pondering the idea of removing all battens in my home and filling the seams with mud. However, I also have a popcorn ceiling. I don't think I'm skilled enough to mud that seam without making a mess of the popcorn. Hmmmm. Has anyone else done this? Maybe I should replace the standard ceiling battens with an inexpensive crown molding?
Thoughts?

Depending on what is there now you can caulk it if there isn't a big gap. If the gap is bigger crown molding would be the best option.

A short crown molding would be the easiest way, especially if you have a miter saw, however I scraped our popcorn ceilings and it really opened up the room. I am mudding over my battens, and because I removed the ones by the ceiling I also had to mud the gap between the ceiling and the wall.
Mudding both the seams and the ceiling gaps gives a nice clean finished look, but molding would be easier.
