Hi everyone,

Not sure where this should go but here's my question. A while back my wife got an antique electric fireplace off ebay. It worked ok at first then the steppermotor quit(the one for the flicker light), and not too long ago the fan motor quit. I ended up finding a fanmotor at an electronics surplus place., but the rpms are way too high. It's a shadedpole I believe and was wondering if there is a way I can put something in to lower the speed?

I was going to try dimmer switch at first but after doing a couple searches, it seems that may be ineffective to do what I want.

Btw there's not much info on the fireplace or the motor for that fact so I don't have any specs.

Hi,

Not much I can give you on it as I'm not familiar with those.

However, the motor would need be a match in order to work safely and correctly.

I would try locating a local company that sells and services those type fireplace units.

Take care and best wishes,
Robert
