75 Marshfield
Northern MN - Snow/Ice

Getting close to 70, kind of tired of going up there. 8)
It might be just me but this water based stuff just doesn't work
near as good as the old asbestos sealers. Also, water based does
zilch for rust. Luckily I only have a few small spots of light rust
I'll sand and coat with 555.

So, I'm thinking of putting Henry 201 Fibered Asphalt Roof Coat around
the outside edges. Once that is cured a couple months (if the snow waits)
I'll top that with Henry 555 Aluminum Roof Coating, couple coats.
Then for the small seams going across the roof I'll just use the 555.

Finding this site I read about 5 pages and noticed, maybe your Admin, mentioned
liquid rubber (?). Well, after reading up on that it just seems too much.
Same goes for elastomeric and silicone sealers, a LOT of work for my age.

Also thinking about taking a stiff putty knife and removing the many coats of
stuff around the edges - lots of work there too if it will even come off.

I'd sure appreciate any comments, pro or con.

Thanks - winter is right around the corner. :x

Just found this from 2013...

Removing old sealants completely will usually give you better results. But be careful with this part as the original roof below all the old sealants could be badly rusted, making this easy repair not so easy.

Wow, never heard of that. That would really ruin my day. I was
thinking the many layers kind of makes a small dam but I'll
leave it be.

I have always had good luck with the Elastomeric sealers, just pool them on, but if you have rust holes they will need to be repaired and it will only be a temporary repair. I ended up doing a roof over on our's 2 years ago.
