Hi there, I just bought a new range and was hoping to replace the hood as well. I have a ventline 42" ducted hood with a centered 5" (grrr) duct. Now it is my understanding that I can replace it with a standard under-cabinet hood by using a 7"-5" reducer coupling. What I'm not understanding is how to compensate for the added height due to the tapered section in the coupling. Would I have to cut a larger hole in the cabinet and remove the equivalent amount of vent pipe? I have a rigid pipe not flexible.

Thanks!

I would measure the space you have and then build up the connectors you need at the store and see where you stand.

Thanks Greg! I ended up finding this puppy https://www.walmart.com/ip/Cosmo-COS-5M ... /479990679 which is really well reviewed. Not quite as wide but shouldn't make a difference as the 42" hood wasn't spanning a gap of any sort.
