furnace duct cleaning

purchased 1976 Glenbrook on 4 acres. The home has sat empty for 2.5 years and the furnace has been removed at some point. It was located in the utility room and the opening under the furnace to the ducting was left wide open. Ducting is under the flooring. Do I need to clean out the ducting or just replace furnace and see what happens?

Take a shop vac and work from register to register and clean as much as possible.
