I am having a roof-over installed on my mobile home. How much benefit efficiency-wise is there in using a white colored metal instead of regular unpainted galvalume? I will have 3" insulation installed between my old metal roof and the new one. (Mainly for a sound barrier.) The difference in cost would be about $600. Thanks!

A big part of it will be where you live. If your in the southern half of the states I would get the white roof. Way cooler in the summer.

A white roof will reflect more heat than any other color. I also think the white vs plain Galvalume may last longer also.

Color makes a huge difference if you are in full sun. I have a shingled roof, and there was a very noticeable difference even going from dark brown to light brown.
