I really don't know of a way. Would it be easier to pull the hood down to clean it?

have you thought of using a couple of towels to cover the area?

plastic painters drop cloth?

cheap tarp from a dollar store?

etc etc etc

be creative

Use a torch and BURN the grease off!!!
Just make sure you have the Fire dept. on stand by.
After that mess, a little degreaser on the counter will look like spilled milk.

I spread newspaper. It's absorbent and super simple to toss, when finished. Have fun.
Balled up newspaper works great on windows, also.

First month in my Mobi I removed the hood from the upper cabinet to have my son take it to the car wash & use the engine degreaser....however it went to the DUMP! Yuck I don't think it had been cleaned in 40 years! I would remove (or get someone to) because there will be grease between it and what it's attached to.
If you don't want to do that all I can say is.... Magic Erasers....lots of them.

A great homemade cleaning recipe for the range hood surface is to mix (in a spray bottle) 1 cup vinegar and 1/2 cup baking soda then fill the rest of the bottle with hot water. Not only will this mixture clean and degrease the range hood it will disinfect it too.
