We've recently found a slow hot water leak. Unfortunately 1 entire wall of wallboard (smoochy & mold) had to be removed along with carpet in bathroom (yay!, hated that). My husband wants to replace wall with standard 1/2" sheetrock instead of the 3/8" that was there. Is that a good idea? I'm concerned if weight is going to be an issue. We do have piers under the home.
Also, should osb floor be removed? It has water stain but is not soft.
Thanks for any advice.

replacing wallboard with sheetrock

1/2" Rock should not be a problem as far as weight goes, the problem you MAY have is door & window jams. You will need to extend the sills or jams to make up the 1/8", It does not seem like much until you actually see it.
OSB is much more forgiving when it comes to water, If it were particle board it would be gone by now.
