Furnace is not keeping up, will only get to 61 degrees or so--this is a new problem; we've been able to keep warm in past years. Any thoughts?
Thank you.

HI,

Four Flashes is a limit switch cycling. You will need to first determine which limit is kicking out and then determine why.

Make sure the filter, blower motor and wheel and a/c a-coil if you have a/c are all clean so as to not restrict airflow through furnace chamber.

Thanks,
Robert

Hi, Robert--
I think ordering a manual for our furnace would be a good idea, so that we're sure to do correctly the things you suggest. I had trouble registering before I could order the manual, as an e-mail never came so that I could order. And today, I can't seem to find the web page that the manual's on. Would you be able to help me with either of those things?
Thanks so much.

Thank you, Robert. A quick call to Mark solved the problem; we now have the manual.

Hi, Robert-
How do we determine which limit is kicking out? And then will that help us determine the "why"? Can the limit switch be temporarily bypassed to warm the house until we have whichever part we need?

Thank you.

Hi Jil,

Test to see if it is open or closed. It should be closed. Any open is the problem limit.

If it is open, it is either a bad/weak limit or there is an overheating problem.

I would not bypass it without first knowing why it tripped.

Thanks,
Robert
