Help! I recently moved my manufactured home onto a permanent foundation. Before that, I never had screeching in the area of my furnace. I have finally figured out that the noise is coming from above, and I can hear it through what appears to be the fresh air vent (from inside house). I found the filter, and the damper, and I believe now, now that I know I have an attic fan, that it could be screetching from that. My furnace is a Coleman Deluxe Air Blend 7681-8171/8 ???

Ok, I think thats right. Does that screeching mean I need maintenance, repair or replacement? My house is 11years old now. Is it dangerous?

Do you need more information...I really thank you in advance for any advice you can give me.

Hi,

Could be the attic motor got jolted. Would have to have someone get on roof and check it to know for sure.

Could run unit while up there to see if it sounds like that is it.

Thanks,
Robert

Ok excellent. Is this a dangerous thing ??? Like is it ok to wait til Sat or should I get right on this tomorrow? And, is it easy to take care of this-am I going to get in over my head if I try to do this by myself??? I'm fairly handy but sometimes things can get a little too technical. Your thoughts?

And thank you so much for your reply! I really appreciate this forum!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Hi,

I would disconnect the blend air unit at the control box to prevent possible further damage.

This article should help with troubleshooting it :

Not a lot to it, should be fine.

Thanks,
Robert

been on the roof. seems the motor is bad-shaft has play, etc.

I think I'll order the motor on-line...and then just put it in.

sound like a reasonable plan?

Thanks again.
