OK, I know MH's tend to be noisy when temps change, but this is different.
Today, the winds have been very strong, gusting up to 50 mph. The northwest corner of the house crackles when the wind hits it. When I press on the interior molding between the wall and ceiling, I get the same noise.
Info that might apply:
* The winds were coming from the northwest, same direction as the corner of the house that was "crackling".
* We have a double-wide, which is on a foundation.
* The front porch/deck is connected to that corner of the house, and extends about a third of the length of the front of the house.
What's happening here?
Crackling sound on windy days

Hi
I guess the short answer is movement causes the noise.
My MH makes popping noise in the ducts when the heater comes on.
Also when the sun comes up my front porch aluminum roof pops.
It's my MH talking to me.

Aside from the roof leak, soft floors, rats, mice and bursted plumbing ........ how do you like it?
I realize that movement causes the noise...the question is, why is only one corner of the house moving? If there's a structural problem, I'd like to know about it. I'd hate to wake up one winter morning to a gaping crack in our MH....

I doubt that there is anything structuraly wrong with your home, wind excerts a lot of force, try to hold a sheet of plywood in a slight wind let alone a strong one. If you have nothing to block the wind before it hits the home, the side is taking the full force. I suspect it is just another quirk of living in a mobile. You can go outside and do an inspection to make sure everything is still in place. Greg
