I'm trying to put a low-flow shower head in our fiberglass tub/shower. I've swapped out many a shower head in my day, but the one in our MH has me stumped.

First, the old, wasteful shower head is attached to the shower arm, so I need to remove the entire shower arm. But when I try to do so...no matter whether I turn it clockwise OR counterclockwise, it tightens instead of becoming loose so I can remove it! What the heck?!?

Here are a couple pics of the shower head/arm.

I've even tried unscrewing the plastic ring (visible in lower photo), but it does the same thing.

What's the trick to removing this shower arm? If it helps, this MH was built in 1975 (manufacturer unknown), so maybe that'll help you narrow down what type of shower head/arm combination this is.

Any help would be appreciated, because I really DON'T want to hire a plumber to do something as simple as putting on a low-flow shower head.

Thanks in advance!!

You'll have to access the backside of the shower head to remove it.

Well, it's accessible (the former owners removed the paneling of that wall in the laundry room--and never replaced it). I'll give it a try, and if I have a problem, I'll get back to you.

ON EDIT: I got it off, and the new shower arm and low-flow head are installed! :D
