I am not positive that this is the case for all Firefox users, but I don't think that Profile Music code that uses asx or wma files will play on Firefox browsers.

JD,

I think there's also some issues of accessing your profile w/music using Vista. My wife says every time she tries to see your profile, it locks up her laptop, which runs Vista.

Oh, that's not so good. The link points to a wav file. Try justting the wav file in a vista browser and see if it is the link or wav files.

Let me know what happens, OK?

JD; I'm running the Vista Beta which is dated June 2006 and when I click on your profile a notice comes up about allowing an ActiveX to run, click o.k. and it plays the song with the player.

The link in your post opens Media player 11 and plays o.k. When I started IE7 fresh, it did not ask permission, just played the song.

Using IE7+ browser which comes with Vista.

Vista comes with extensive protection turned on by default, I imagine it blocks running ActiveX.

Hi Bill,

So would this Active-X warning come up with an older version of media player? Is there a different media player that would be fairly universal to all visitors that could be used?

I think it depends on the browser and plug-ins that are allowed plus protections that are turned on/off. Every PC is diff.
I'm. back in XP SP2 and IE6. When I click on your Profile it asks permission to run an activeX plug-in, o.k. and it plays using Quicktime. LOL

At least I hear the song. Old fight between MS and MAC?

Well I decided to do something about the Firefox/MS asx plug-in issue. After searching for fixes I found this link.

I like my computer fix instructions real simple, so I decided that I will wait till something happens automatically (or not). :)
