I had a power surge and now my furnace doesnot work. I have a Tapin FG6RC. My question is, did the power surge take out the transformer or the control board?
The board LED's do not light
The fuse on the board is good
No noticable dark spots on the board (light tan)
I have not checked the output of the transformer, as I do not have a multi-meter. I will get one and check it if I don't hear any thoughts from this posting.
Thanks for all your help!!!
Tom
Power Surge
Hi Tom,
Yes, check the secondary output of transformer first. Usually when a board blows, you will see burnt spots and/or have a blown fuse.
Let us know what you find, will be back on later tonight.
Take care and best wishes,
Robert
