Pex versus Pex-al-pex

Not real familiar with pex as stopped doing plumbing before it came out.
What is the difference between pex and pex-al-pex and if does one work better as a radiant floor heat run than the other.

My understanding is that Pex is for water supply and Pex al Pex is for radiant floor heat. From what I saw on the pex website P a P is a multi layer tube, more reistant to leaks, something I would want when it is run through concrete. Greg
