I guess this would be somewhat of a decorating/landscape question. Moderators, move if you must.

I have wicker furniture that came in a horrid John Deere green color. I want it to be white for my front porch. Spray paint didn't work all that well last year AND it's peeling off this year already. How on earth do you paint it to cover and get it to stick?

Hi Sylvia,

Is this real wicker or is it the new plastic/poly type wicker?

What type of paint did you use last year?

John Deere green, what were they thinking???

It's real wicker I got quite the deal on it at Goodwill. A loveseat, two arm chairs, a rocker, a coffee table and end table for $100.38. Last year we just used regular white spray paint, which provided less than exceptional results. Now the poor results are peeling off.

Hi Sylvia,

It's all in knowing what the wicker was painted with originally. Then prepping correctly and painting correctly.

Most wicker is painted with latex. Most spray paint is an oil based paint. If not prepped right, the oil paint won't stick.

Haven't had time to check out Yanita's link, just got back from my early Memorial Day weekend get a away!
