Vinyl Spackle (DAP or White Lightning) or Joint Compound. I've googled my eyeballs out and would love some feedback from those who have filled and taped the seams.

I have the wood paneling so its got vertical grooves every 6 inches or so. It would look funny to have no groove every 4 feet where the panels meet. The former owner of my house used a vinyl caulk between the panels and it still looks great after 3 years. No seperation at all and there is lots of flexing in the house. I imagine it's a whole lot easier to caulk the seam rather than tape and mud.
I think it would be important not to be smeary with the stuff because it could show a different texture in the final paint finish (keep the caulk in the groove not on the panel).
