My helper and His GF live in an apartment with a back porch wich has a southern exposure, but only for a short time each day as it is blocked by another roof.

Looking at the USDA zone map She is in zone 4b..Any suggestion for outdoor/indoor,,semi low light potted flowers for Her to try?

I can grow a grass in the yard and hopefully tobacco and some veggies,,but,,I dunno doodly about flowers.

TY much.

Hi,

I looked around and this place seems like a nice forum you could ask for help or suggestions in. The link is right below:

You could also try the main page at http://www.davesgarden.com

From what I've read, and what my mom's been trying to teach me about gardening - it's hard to grow flowers with blooms on them in low light areas. But I'm sure there is something she can grow!

I'll keep looking around for ya :)

TY Teresa!!,,I'll try searching the archives there if I don't have to join to do it that is,,will check that later I guess.

She could always grow spider plants I think! LOL,,everybody and their brother seems to have those, and, they don't look bad, and,I think they propogate on their own. Might be one option for Her use for starters.

I think if She hangs/sets them low enough they will get some direct sun,She didn't know how many hours per day tho,,either now or come high summer. I've been there and used that porch,My guess would be 4-5 hours during high summer,,stressing "guess".
